RACE CAPACITY - 400 PARTICIPANTS.

 THE RACE 

The 14th Annual Ellicott City 5K/10K is a community race located in Oella, Maryland. The course is appropriate for all levels of experience including first-timers. Don't want to do the full 10K course? Create a 2-person team and and participate in the relay division!

 AGE REQUIREMENT 

Runners must be at least 7 years old to participate in the 5K. 

Runners must be at least 10 years old to participate in the 10K.

*Relay Team price is for the entire team not per individual. The captain will “Create a Team” and pay the full price.

The additional team members will “Join a Team” at no cost. 

Registration transfers are not permitted to other Rip It Events. Race organizers reserve the right to close registration due to capacity limits. Race organizers reserve the right to delay or cancel event due to extreme weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles are prohibited.

RACE INFO

 

RACE DAY SCHEDULE - May 5

7:30 AM - Packet Pick Up Opens

9:00 AM - 5K, 10K & 10K-Relay teams start together

PACKET PICK UP 

Registered participants are required to pick up their packet before the start of the race. You packet includes your race bib and timing chip. If you're unable to attend packet pick-up, someone may pick up your packet on your behalf. Packet pick up will be on race morning only at the venue.

RACE CATEGORY CHANGES 

If you decide to switch from the 10K to the 5K (or vise versa), please let us know by email prior to race day or in-person (prior to the start of the race) on race day. The deadline to switch race category by email is May 2. Please send email to racedirector@ripitevents.com.

5K COURSE 

The 3.1 mile course will start/finish at Banneker Historical Park in Oella, Ellicott City. 100% of the course is on paved road or path surface. Strollers are NOT permitted on the run course.

 

5K runners will complete ONE loop of the run course. Runners will share the looped course with the 10K course. To view course map, click HERE.

10K COURSE

The 6.2 mile course will start/finish at Banneker Historical Park in Oella, Ellicott City. 100% of the course is on paved road or path surface. Strollers are NOT permitted on the run course.

Runners will share the looped course with the 5K course. 10K runners will complete TWO loops. To view course map, click HERE.

10K RELAY OPTION

Don't want to do the full 10K course? Create a 2-person team and and participate in the relay division! Relay teams must select relay category at online registration. 

Each relay participate will run 3.1 miles (5K). The following applies to all relays:

Runner A will start, run 3.1 miles, and exchange race bib number and shoe tag with Runner B at the relay exchange point (turn around cone inside Bannaker Historical Park). Runner B will run 3.1 miles to the finish line. Relay teams will be given ONE race bib and ONE timing shoe tag. 

Switching Race Categories

If you want to switch from the 10K to the 5K (or vise versa), please let us know at packet pick up on race morning. All runners will start the race in the category they have selected prior to the race start. If you are registered for the 10K and decide NOT to complete 2 loops of the course during the race, you will still receive a finisher medal but you will be removed from results (DQ'd).

PARTICIPANT SHIRT & FINISHER MEDAL

Participants will receive the shirt size they selected at online registration. We will purchase extra participant shirts to those who wish to exchange their shirt for a different size. Shirt exchanges can be completed at the conclusion of the race. Athletes will receive a finisher medal at the finish line. 

TIMING & RESULTS

This race will use bib tag timing. Your timing chip will be affixed to the back side of your bib number. Please do not remove your timing chip. 

This event will be publishing LIVE results through out the race. To access results on race day, go to www.ripitevents.com and access the "Results" webpage from your smart phone. Choose this race from the race options and enter your bib number on the results page.

AWARDS

Awards will be given to following categories for both the Half Marathon and 10K: 

Overall Male - Top 3

Overall Female - Top 3

Overall Non-Binary - Top 3

Age Group - Top 3 (male & female) 7-8, 9-10, 11-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39,

40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, ALL Male, ALL Female and Coed relay teams.
