THE RACE

The 11th Annual Ellicott City 5K/10K is a community race located in Ellicott City, Maryland. The course is appropriate for all levels of experience including first-timers. This race includes a relay and kids fun run option. This race will start and finish at Banneker Historical Park. The address of the park is 300 Oella Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228

It is the participant's responsibility to know the course and be properly trained for it. Race officials reserve the right to pull a participant from the course if it appears the participant is a hazard to themselves or other participants. This is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event. This race course is not a USATF certified course. The following are prohibited from the race course: pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles.

AGE REQUIREMENT

Athletes must be at least 7 years old on race day to participate in the 5K. Athletes must be at least 10 years old on race day to participate in the 10K race.​

DEFERRAL POLICY

REGISTRATION DISCLAIMER

  • All participants must register online or on race day. Online registration will close on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at midnight. 

  • Runners who register after July 1 are not guaranteed a shirt.

  • Athletes must be at least 7 years old on race day to participate in the 5K. Athletes must be at least 10 years old on race day to participate in the 10K race.

  • All registrations are final. No registration transfer permitted to other Rip It Events. 

  • Race organizers reserve the right to close registration due to capacity limits.

  • The following are prohibited from the race course: pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles.

PACKET PICK UP

Registered participants are required to pick up their packet before the start of the race; participant's MUST have a photo I.D. 

  • Saturday, July 17 - 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM at Feet First Sports - 5305 Village Center Dr #110, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Sunday, July 18, Race Day - 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM at race venue*

*Athletes may pick up packets for friends and family. 

 

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

8:30 AM - 5K and 10K Runners

8:32 AM - Kid's Fun Run

 

5K COURSE 

5K participants must be at least 7 years old on race day. The 3.1 mile course will start/finish at Banneker Historical Park in Oella, Ellicott City. 100% of the course is on paved road or path surface. Strollers are NOT permitted on the run course.

 

5K runners will complete ONE loop of the run course. To view course map, click HERE.

10K COURSE

10K participants must be at least 10 years old on race day. The 6.2 mile course will start/finish at Banneker Historical Park in Oella, Ellicott City. 100% of the course is on paved road or path surface. Strollers are NOT permitted on the run course.

Runners will share the looped course with the 5K course. 10K runners will complete TWO loops. To view course map, click HERE.

10K RELAY OPTION

Don't want to do the full 10K course? Create a 2-person team and and participate in the relay division! Relay teams must select relay category at online registration. 

Each relay participate will run 3.1 miles (5K). The following applies to all relays:

  • Runner A will start, run 3.1 miles, and exchange race bib number with Runner B at the relay exchange point (turn around cone inside Bannaker Historical Park).

  • Runner B will run 3.1 miles to the finish line.

  • Relay teams will be given ONE race bib. Your timing chip is affixed to the reverse side of bib number. Runner A is required to exchange their race bib with Runner B at the relay exchange point. 

  • All finishers must be wearing a race bib.​

 

FINISHER MEDAL

Athletes who finish this race will receive a finisher medal. 

PARTICIPANT SHIRT

ALL PARTICIPANTS WHO REGISTER BY 11:59PM, FRIDAY, JULY 1 ARE GUARANTEED A T-SHIRT!  Extra shirts will be ordered and will be distributed at the end of the awards ceremony - first come first serve. Kid's run participants do not receive a shirt.

AWARDS

The award ceremony will be held at approximately 9:30 AM in the post race area. Awards will be given to male and female 5K, 10K & relay participants who earn 1st through 3rd place for the following divisions:

Overall, 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Coed Relay, All Male Relay, All Female Relay
