We want to inspire you to be POSITIVE and HEALTHY during this time of uncertainty. Run a total of 25, 50,100 or 150 miles between July 5 and September 30 on as many trails as your time and schedule allow! This challenge is NOT meant to be accomplished in a single run. Instead, we encourage you to spread this challenge over many dates and enjoy nature. Howard County, MD has many great running trails, but this challenge is not limited to HoCo. We hope you take this opportunity to explore trails where ever you are located! The race packet for this virtual run includes a race shirt and a finisher’s medal. There are no awards for this run.
Join a Team!
We have two Team contests to create some FUN! Invite friends and family members to join you on this challenge by creating a team to support each other! Come up with a team name and be sure that everyone enters it during registration. We will have the following results for the Team competition…
Largest Team– having the most team members registered
Distance Team– having the largest milage team

Total run distance should be broken into many runs. You are welcome to divide your distance however you see fit. Below are recommendations based on the three running distances.
25 Miles - Eight 3.1 mile runs
50 Miles - Eight 6.2 mile runs
100 Miles - Eight 12.5 mile or Ten 10 mile runs
150 Miles - various
This virtual 5k is a event that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. We encourage you to run off-road and enjoy nature but this challenge can technically be completed on the road, paved pathway or on a treadmill - all while maintaining social distancing. Run at your own pace and time it yourself.

Patuxent Branch Trail, 3.1 Miles (Howard County MD) - Very easy, mostly flat trail.
Rockburn Branch Park - 5 mile loop (Howard County, MD) - natural trail, combination of flats and hills.
St. Mary's River State Park, 7 mile Loop (St. Mary's, MD)
Rosaryville State Park, various mileage (Upper Marlboro, MD)
Greenbrier State Park, various milage (Boonsboro, MD)
Little Gunpowder Trail, 4.2 miles (Kingsville, MD)
Gunpowder Falls State Park, various trails
Patapsco Valley State Park, various trails (Howard County, MD)
Seneca Creek State Park, various trails (Gaithersburg, MD)
Join our virtual run facebook group and show your support for your fellow runner . Be sure to post photos of your training and that you completed your 5K.
As you know, Maryland and the U.S. are beginning to reopen. At this time, the preferred way to run is solo, and from home. This virtual run strongly discourages running in groups and advises participants to maintain the mandated six feet separation rule. Rip It Events is not responsible for any legal ramifications for violation of state laws.
Runners must be at least 7 years old to register for this virtual run.

PARTICIPANT SHIRT & MEDAL
Participants will receive the shirt size they selected at online registration via mail. For reference, shirts are short sleeve and made by Zorrel Primease. They will be soft cotton type (this is the same shirt type Rip It Events has used for all of 2019). To view the shirt size chart, click HERE. All shirts and medals will be mailed to participants by mid-September.
SUBMIT YOUR RESULTS (optional)
Submitting your results is optional. Participants can submit their indvidual results online between July 5 - September 30. To submit individual results, click the button below. Enter your registration ID, completion time and a photo of your watch or other device. Your registration ID can be found on your confirmation email.
