Our permit for this race is APPROVED and this race will take place as schedule for March 6 & 7. We thank the county for making time to review & approve our permit request while juggling vaccinations, inclement weather and standard operations.

We have A LOT of information to share with you. We are sending this info to you now so that you are prepared for race day. The following information has been updated on the race website as well. We thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we are making the best of a challenging situation. Covid-19 Safety Plan

The current restriction for mass gatherings in Howard County limits events to 250 people or less. There are a total of 912 runners in this event over 2 days. The following safety plan will be implemented for both Half Marathon on March 6 and the 10K on March 7.

  1. Rip It Events will run TWO races EACH DAY with a short break in between races. Each race will have no more than 225 runners. There will never be more than 225 people running on the run course at any given time.

  2. NEW - As of 3.2.21, All runners must sign a Columbia Association Covid Wavier. This can be accomplished one of two ways.

    1. Print this wavier at home, sign it and bring with you to packet pick up. If possible, this is the best and fastest way to complete this requirement.

    2. Sign the waiver onsite at packet pick up (the race will provide a paper copy of the waiver)

    3. To view and download this wavier, click HERE.

  3. All runners will pick up their bib on race morning. There is no packet pick up prior to race day. Your timing chip will already be affixed to the back of your bib. Runners will be permitted to pick up these items no more than 30 minutes prior to their assigned wave start. A social distancing type of packet pick up will be implemented where race management and athletes maintain 6ft from each other at all times. After picking up your bib, runners will report directly to the start area. Please reference the flow of runners’ image at the bottom of this document.

  4. Runners are assigned a starting wave of 25 people. Each wave will start 3 minutes apart. Participants will be spaced 6 ft apart in the starting corral. This will reduce the amount of passing on the run course.

  5. Runner participating in both the Half Marathon& 10K will be required to go through packet pick up each day. You will get a different bib for each race.

  6. Runners will be required to wear masks before and after the race. Runners will be required to carry a mask during the race at all times.

  7. NEW - As of 3.3.21 - Half Marathon runners may drop a SMALL bag or hydration at the half way point (turn around point) of their race, however, the best and safest option is to carry your own hydration such as a camel back or fuel belt. There is NO bag or hydration drop for the 10K. Runners are responsible for their own supplies at all times. This option is NOT meant for your pre or post race clothes. This is for hydration needs only. To view the location of this area at the venue, click HERE

  8. Runners will receive their shirt and finisher medal as they exit the venue. Please reference the flow of runners image at the bottom of this email.

  9. Spectating is NOT permitted at this year’s event.

Race Time Line

Wave starts were grouped based on runners pace per mile as indicated on the registration form. Participants MUST start in their assigned waves. If your average pace is list incorrectly but only by 30 seconds or so, please remain in your assigned wave. If you feel strongly that you should be placed in a different wave, please email us at racedirector@ripitevents.com. Starting in the same wave with a friend or spouse is NOT considered a valid reason to request a wave change.
