Enjoy nature at Greenbrier State Park. Starting and finishing near the beach, the Greenbrier Trail 5 & 10 Miler uses the multi-trail system inside the park. The course is a mix of natural surface single track and wide trails. This course is challenging in elevation and is appropriate for all level runners including beginners. Minimalist shoes are not recommended for this race. Standard running or trail shoes are appropriate. This race will close at 250 registrants.
Runners must be at least 14 years old to participate in this race.
COVID-19 RULES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
By registering for this event, participants agree to abide by all COVID-19 rules, requirements and other safety guidelines issued by the event, park, and the state. Participants will be required to sign a specific Covid-19 waiver during online registration. All runners, organizers, volunteers and attendees are required to wear masks whenever 6 feet can not be consistently maintained outdoors. Additionally, participants MUST carry a face mask on their person at all times during the race.

Participants may elect to defer their registration to the 2021 race (tentatively scheduled for Oct 24). There is no fee to to defer your registration. The deadline to request a defer is Friday, Oct 23. To request a defer, please email us at .
If the race is cancelled due to Covid-19 related issues, all registrations for the physical race will be refunded minus the processing fee.
Registration transfers are not permitted to other Rip It Events.
Race organizers reserve the right to close registration due to capacity limits.
Race organizers reserve the right to delay or cancel event due to extreme weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
The following are prohibited from the race course: pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles.

PACKET PICK UP
Packet pick up is on race morning only. Registered participants are required to pick up their packet before the start of the race. This includes getting your timing chip, bib and shirt. Due to Covid-19, the following procedure will take place on race morning (subject to change).
1. All participants must pick up their packet in person no more than 30 minutes prior to your assigned start wave. Please DO NOT attempt to pick up your packet early. For example, if you are starting in Wave 9 at 9:24 a.m., your packet pick up time is 8:54 a.m. Runners are welcome to arrive to the park early but must stand clear of the packet pick up area and start/finish line.
2. To reduce the number of people at packet pick up, only registered participants themselves are permitted to pick up their packet. No exceptions. A photo ID will be required to pick up your packet.
PARTICIPANT SHIRT & PINT GLASS
Participant shirts are short sleeve and made by Zorrel Primease. They will be soft cotton type. To view the shirt size chart, click HERE. REGISTER BY OCT 12 TO BE GUARANTEED A SHIRT! Participants will receive a logo pint glass at the finish line.
To ensure runner safety and to reduce the amount of passing during the first few miles of the race, participants have been placed into waves of 25 people based on their average pace per mile as entered on the registration form. Each wave will consist of both 5 & 10 Miler runners. Participants must start in their assigned waves. The wave assignment list will be published and sent to participants via email one week prior to race day. If your average pace is list incorrectly but only by 30 seconds or so, please remain in your assigned wave. If you feel strongly that you should be placed in a different wave, please email us at . Starting in the same wave with a friend or spouse NOT considered a valid reason to request a wave change.

In accordance with Maryland State Park rules, all runners, organizers, volunteers and attendees are required to wear masks whenever 6 feet can not be consistently maintained outdoors. Additionally, participants MUST carry a face mask on their person at all times during the race.
Allowing a non-registered runner to use your bib is NOT PERMITTED. There are two reasons for this rule.
1. We are implementing specific safety measures due to Covid-19. All registered participants will sign a wavier agreeing to the race rules during the registration process. Additionally, runners will receive detailed information from us days leading up to the event with updated safety requirements. Non-registered runners will not have signed the waiver and will not have receive communication from us.
2. Our race insurance covers registered runners only. It does not cover someone who is running under someone else's name/bib number.
RUN COURSE & TRAIL SIGNAGE
The race starts and finishes near the beach inside Greenbrier State Park. The race uses various sections of the trail system. The course is a mix of single track and wide trails. Most of Greenbriar’s trails are classified as moderate to strenuous, so be prepared for some fairly steep hills and rocky terrain. This race is appropriate for all level runners including beginners. Minimalist shoes are not recommended for this race. Standard running or trail shoes are appropriate.

The course will be marked with neon pink signage. Each runner is responsible for completing the correct course. "Following the person in front of you" made lead to running in the wrong direction. Keep an eye out for course signage at all times.
10 MILER COURSE REQUIREMENT
All runners must reach mile 5 (start 2nd loop) in 1 hour and 40 min. Runners who have not completed this distance by 10:55 a.m. (which requires runners to average approximately 20:00 per mile) will not be permitted to continue on the course.
RACE CATEGORY CHANGES - IMPORTANT!
If you decide to switch from the 10 Miler to the 5 miler (or vise versa), please let us know by email prior to race day or in-person (prior to the start of the race) on race day. The deadline to switch race category by email is Oct 22. Please send email to . 10 Milers who decide not to continue to the second loop during the race will not be eligible for awards.
To reduce the amount of contact between runners and race management, participants are encouraged to wear a camelback or fuel belt during the race. There will be 2 aid stations along the loop course. All water stations are self serve and will be monitored by a race management. If you require gatorade or other nutrition, please carry your own.
Water Station # 1 is located at mile 3.6.
Water Station # 2 is located at the start/finish line (start of 2nd loop for 10 milers).
TIMING & WITHDRAWING DURING THE RACE
Your timing chip (orange square) is affixed to the back of your race number bib. Do not remove this timing chip. You can throw away your timing chip/race number at the conclusion of the race if you'd like. It is disposable.
If you drop out of the race at any point, please notify member of the race staff. It is essential that we know where you are on the course at all times for your safety and our peace of mind.
To reduce the amount of close interaction between race staff and athletes, all results will be posted directly online in real time. Finishers can use their smart phone to access their individual results by clicking HERE or going to the RESULTS webpage at the conclusion of their race.
Awards will be given to the top finisher in the following group categories for both the 5 & 10 Miller: Overall, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. All awards will be mailed to participants with in 2 weeks of the conclusion of the race.
The bathroom building located near the start/finish line will be open. There are no bathrooms along the run course.
While we'd love to have friends and family participate as spectators, due to covid-19, spectating is NOT permitted at this years event. Thank you for your understanding.
